How to wash period underwear

It’s important to make sure you are following proper care routines, so you can wear your ELSAWEAR period underwear for a long time.

After unboxing your period underwear

Wash the underwear before first use, either by hand or in the washing machine. Use a delicate setting if you’re using a washing machine. Hang to dry.

After wearing your panties
  • Rinse – Rinse them in cold water to wash out the blood. You can gently rub the gusset of the underwear until the water runs clear.
  • Wash – wash your period underwear by hand or in the washing machine with a mild detergent on a delicate setting.
  • Dry – then simply hang them to dry.

Important! Don’t use fabric softener or bleach on your period underwear, as it can compromise the integrity of the fabric, and at worst, it will ruin your underwear. Don`t use a tumble dryer!

Can you hand wash period underwear?

Yes, you can hand wash them. Just remember to use a mild detergent and no fabric softener.

How long does it take to dry?

They can take a little longer than traditional underwear to dry. This is because of the multiple layers used to make the underwear. We recommend avoiding using the dryer as this can compromise the fabric.

Tip! You can roll your underwear tightly in a towel to get them to dry faster!

Do I need to sanitize them?

No, as long as you are washing them there is no need to sanitize them.

Do they need to be washed separate?

They do not need to be kept separately.

Can period blood stain them?

Rinsing the period panty in cold water before washing can prevent staining. If the panty is black, it won`t stain.

What happens if I put my period underwear in the dryer?

Dryers can damage and compromise the fabric, and your period underwear completely stop working.
